Should You Eat Dessert Before Dinner?

Who said dessert shouldn’t come before dinner? In a recirculating article from TIME, a dental surgeon argued that starting with dessert instead of the main course was, in fact, healthier. “People who begin their meals with dessert will probably kill much of their appetite; they are not likely to ask for seconds on the main course,” the magazine wrote. Another benefit: it’s also better on your teeth. If sweets are eaten at the beginning of your meal, later courses “will scour away leftover sugars.”

Whether you’re looking to become healthier, or just want an excuse to feed your sweet tooth before dinner, our new guide is for you. At Bricco, we put together a list of desserts worth ordering before you hit our entrees.

Cuore Caldo al Chocolate:

Love chocolate? Prove it by ordering our cuore caldo. Meaning “warm heart,” our cuore caldo is a warm, lava chocolate cake with gooey milk chocolate on the inside. To finish things off, our kitchen tops it off with a scoop of hazelnut gelato.

Sfera di Pistacchio:

Our sfera di pistacchio, which means “pistachio sphere”, is exactly how it sounds. Featuring a big pistachio ball, our sfera di pistacchio is filled with buttery, almond cream.

Deconstructed Tiramisú:

You know the classic, but have you tried our spin-off version of tiramisu? Made tableside, our deconstructed tiramisu features ladyfingers soaked in coffee liquor and covered in thick mascarpone.

Homemade Sorbetto:

Keep it light and easy with our homemade sorbets! Diners can choose from lemon, mango, or passionfruit.

Crème Brulee:

You like to stay on the safe side of things, but, hey–we don’t judge. You can never go wrong with ordering creme brulee. Made like you know it, our creme brulee features a crispy, charred center, and smooth, vanilla pudding underneath. To shake things up, we put a bundle of fiocchi di frolla cookies on top.

Three Perfect Cheeses:

Maybe you don’t just want something sweet, but salty, too. Our perfect cheese platter showcases three, delicate Italian cheeses. Paired with a crostini and fig preserves, our platter is the perfect combination for sweet and savory palettes.
